Bio: Ben’s most recent work focuses on the nature, drivers, and development outcomes of increased Chinese migration to Africa. This builds on research, conducted with Professor Giles Mohan, from a two-year, ESRC-funded project on Chinese migrants in Ghana and Nigeria and has resulted in coauthored articles in African Affairs and the Journal of Current Chinese Affairs and a coauthored book, Chinese Migrants and Africa’s Development, published by Zed in 2014. Ben will be undertaking further “China-Africa” research with Professor Mohan and partners in the UK and China as a Co-Investigator on a new DFID-ESRC-funded project on Chinese national oil companies and the economic development of African oil producers.
